When you pluck the strings, the signal generates from the pickups is so weak, it needs thousands times of amplification to drive the speakers of your guitar amps and PA systems, then it becomes the tone we always love to talk about.
The slightest change of the original signal will have big impacts to the final tone. If we put a lever between the guitar pickup and the final sound the audience heard, and look upon the effect pedals, amps, rack processors and so on as fulcrums, the closer the fulcrum to the guitar, the more it will effects the final sound. The Wiring Cube is a device that work right beside the guitar, if you do the full bypass mod to your guitar and use a high quality guitar cable, it can even work “within” the guitar.
Before the signal reach to the preamp of your effects or amps, the wiring method and every components of your guitar wiring system — potentiometers, capacitors, etc. — is designed to reduce something from the signal in their own way, and yes, even if all the volume and tone knobs are full on. In fact, this reduction is so subtle and unique, and in most cases, this is the key of their charming characters.
Unfortunately, the wiring system of mass production model guitars, even most of the custom made master pieces is not designed to match your gears and personal tastes, and it’s a great challenge to your patience and wallet if you want to try everything in your guitar to find out the best one.
The Wiring Cube is designed to solve this problem. We combined different pot values, tapers, wiring methods, all kinds of treble bleed networks, tone cap values and types, different types of tone controls and so on to give most precisely controlling to your tone. Even better, we use all real guitar parts as in the guitar cavity!
For professional guitar repair techs and builders, the Wiring Cube can show your customers what you can do to mod their guitar in a “ you pay for what you heard” way, saves you hours even days of guess work to make them happy with the tone of their dreams. For the recording players and other guitar geeks, you don’t need to
bring dozens of guitars with you anymore, hundreds of subtly different tones is at your fingertips now!
